Former coach of the U-23 Dream Team Samson Siasia has been labelled an ingrate by a top official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Some prominent Nigerians have been named as beneficiaries of the $1.092b Malabu oil deal. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) is investigating the scandal.

A businessman, who is being grilled by the EFCC over the deal, is believed to have named a former Head of State, a former Senate President, a former National Security Adviser (NSA), some senators, and some serving and former members of the House of Representatives.

All the suspects may soon be invited for interrogation by the EFCC to determine their level of complicity, The Nation learnt at the weekend.

At least 40 people have been killed in a suicide car bombing at a military facility in the southern Yemen city of Aden, officials say.

The Government of China through their embassy has awarded scholarship to 49 students from various Universities and Colleges in Sierra Leone to pursue their postgraduate and PHD studies.

The 49 students were unveiled on last Wednesday at Bintumani Hotel during the celebration of Sino-Sierra Leone Alumni Association (SISLAA) and symposium marking the 45th year of excellent diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

At a glamorous dinner held at Bintumani Hotel, the awardees looked stunning and exciting listening enthusiastically to lectures and experiences shared by past students from China and its advantages.

Thierry Henry Named Assistant Coach of Belgium National Team

New Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has made a shock signing by naming Arsenal legend Thierry Henry on his coaching team.Henry will take up his first senior coaching role after previously learning his trade at the Gunners.

The Frenchman coached Arsenal's Under 18 team before he was forced to leave his role due to Arsene Wenger's demands for Henry to leave his role as a pundit on Sky Sports.

In keeping with their promise to help the less privileged people in the state, the Abia state government in line with its transformation in the education sector has made a major move. The government has approved the reduction of school fees being paid in the state owned university.

This is to help poor and encourage indigenes of the state to get quality education. According to Comrade Bonnie Iwuoha, the Abia state commissioner for information, the executive council of the state has given approval for a reduction of 10,000 Naira in the school fees payable by Abia state indigenes in the Abia state University, Uturu.

Sierra Leone News:President Koroma Says C-10 Has Come Out With Renewable Mandate

President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma has said that the African Union Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government (C-10) on United Nations Security Council Reform had come out with a renewed mandate and determination on the reform of the United Nations Security Council after a successful meeting in Kigali about two months ago.

He made this statement during a courtesy call on him by the ambassador and Special Envoy for the United Nations Affairs, Mr. Seiichi Kondo, at State House on Tuesday August 23rd, 2016.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said it lost 560,000 barrels of crude oil between January and May this year.
At an average crude oil price of $38 per barrel and a budgeted exchange rate of N197/$, according numbers obtained from the NNPC, the Nigerian treasury was denied N4.1 billion within the five months’ period.

Senate Committee Threatens To Probe Dalung, NOC Over Failure In Olympics

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Obinna Ogba, said the committee might probe the roles of the Minister of Sport, Solomon Dalung and the Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC) in the abysmal performance of Nigeria’s team at the just concluded Olympics 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
