Photos: Nigeria U23 Team Get Gallant Welcome

Nigeria’s U-23 team that won bronze at the just concluded 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, have arrived in the country after clinching the country’s only medal from the competition. Led by Coach Samson Siasia, the team were welcomed like heroes on arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Monday night, August 22.
They were received by cheering fans and supporters of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club.

Bolajizblog recalls that Japanese surgeon Katsuya Takasu fulfilled his promise to give the U-23 Dream Team cash rewards for their efforts at the Rio Olympics. Team coach Samson Siasia and captain Mikel Obi were handed $200,000 and $190,000 respectively. This came after Sadiq Umar scored twice before Aminu Umar added a third to hand the Dream Team VI a slim 3-2 win over Honduras. The South American gave the Nigeria u-23 team a fright in the final moments of the game, as two late goals via Lazano and Pereira set up a nervy finish.
