Due to the current Economic downturn, Benue State
has declared every Friday a work free day to enable workers in the state work
on their farms so as to be able to produce food for their families to eat. The
work free friday begins today, June 10 and will last till end of July, 2016.
The Benue State Executive Council approved this yesterday.
Governor Samuel Ortom, who chaired the session of the meeting at which the decision was taken, explained that the objective was to enable as many workers as possible to produce food to feed their families in the current economic downturn which has made the regular payment of salaries a major challenge
