Dangote drops out of World's Top 100 Rich list as Naira crashes

Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, has dropped out of the list of top 100 richest people in the world. This is largely due to the devaluation of the Naira. Dangote who owns the second largest sugar-refinery in the world, remains richer than American billionaires, Donald Trump, and Oprah Winfrey who ranks as the second richest black woman in the world.

Dangote is now worth $11.1 billion, while Trump and Oprah are estimated at $4.5 billion and $3.1 billion, respectively.

The devaluation of the Naira against the dollar from about 198 to about 300, has eroded about a quarter of Dangote’s wealth as he continues to invest heavily in Nigeria. At the launch of the new foreign exchange regime on June 23rd, Dangote fell from number 46 on the world billionaire list to 71 and has continued to drop as the Naira continues to crash.

"Koffi Olomide Has Become A Scapegoat For A Crime Many Men Are Guilty Of" - Freeze

Congolese musician Koffi Olomide has been arrested, charged with assault & battery and detained in prison for kicking one of his female dancers at Nairobi Airport. Freeze reacted to the story today, describing Koffi as a scapegoat for a crime "many men are guilty of. He wrote,

"Although I sympathize with Koffi Olomide and his family as he begins his 1 year jail term, (this has not been confirmed) for assaulting a dancer, I feel the need to draw attention to the consequences of violence towards women.
It's a pity that Koffi Olomide has become a scapegoat for a crime many men are guilty of, however, such a high profile case would help enlighten the male public on the negative aftermath of such an action, and possibly serve as a deterrent for future offenders.
Perpetrators of violence against men too should seize this opportunity to realize that the end result of violence is never pleasant. ~FRZ"

She Was Slaughtered Because Of Evangelism

Better than a song.....

While we were asleep, she was on the streets like she always has done for over 10yrs preaching, evangelising, and reaching out to souls. She was killed in cold blood, murdered on the same street she walked on for souls, she was sliced like she wasn't human but I don't see anyone marching for her sake. Only a few are putting up posts about this soldier who died for the kingdom.

Kunle Afolayan’s The CEO As A Contemporary Parable – Toni Kan

Most great movies are defined, maybe, propelled, more like, by the trifecta of tropes, stereotypes and archetypes. These three continue to recur and define three of the movies made by Kunle Afolayan, from Figurine to October 1st and now The CEO.
The other English language movie from his oeuvre, ‘Phone Swap’, even though evincing elements of the trifecta, is eliminated from consideration because it is a comedy.
Kunle Afolayan, son of Ade Love, has produced 5 feature length movies in the space of 10 years.
Four years earlier, in an interview with this writer, Mr Afolayan had scoffed at the use of the term, new Nollywood, which now seems ironic because he has become the poster boy of that new Nollywood, a term that encapsulates what Nollywood should aspire to; big budget features with international collaborations and superior technical quality.
To return now to the trifecta; Mr Afolayan’s recent movie, The CEO, rides the trope of Reality TV to deliver a masterful movie. The premise is simple and familiar to every cable TV subscriber.
Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, in a lecture he delivered yesterday at the investiture of Mr. Dele Ojogbede as President of Rotary Club, Ikoyi in Lagos, said, it is illegal for former governors, who have been placed on life pension in their states, to also earn salaries in the National Assembly. He also said that lawmakers should not be paid their full salaries and allowances if they don't sit for the mandatory 181 days before going on a seven-month recess.
Falana counselled the Federal Government on what to do with those undermining the anti-corruption war.
In regards to former governors in the Senate, Falana said:

Would You Travel With A Luggage Attached To Your Waist That You Could Drag Around Like A Tail?

An airline pilot has come up with an idea he says will make traveling easier. It helps you affix your luggage to your butt and drag it around like a tail. He said he got the idea the gadget while waiting for a flight, saying the gadget makes those long airport walks much more comfortable

“I’ve walked 2-3 miles demonstrating my product around Miami Airport,” Lian writes. “If I wasn’t hungry, I could have walked more.”

It comes with a few caveats though. It works best with a belt so if you're wearing a dress, you can't use one. But does this make sense? Would you drag your luggage around like this at an airport?
