Photos: Presidents of Nigeria, Liberia, Ghana and Sierra Leone Currently in Gambia To Hand Over Power Peacefully To Adama Barrow

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, current Ecowas chair and her counterparts Muhammadu Buhari, Ernest Bai Koroma and outgoing Ghanaian leader John Dramani Mahama atre in Gambia to order Yayah Jammeh to leave the power to the President elect, Adama Barrow.
This is the crude message to ring loudly in Yahya Jammeh's ears. "You have one week to confirm that you leave power and hand over to President elect Adama Barrow".

These African heads of states are not in Banjul to beg Jammeh. Ecowas Commission chairperson, Marcel de Souza warns that if Jammeh refuses to pay heed to this amicable call, "More draconian decisions will have to be considered. One of such decisions is a military intervention to enforce the verdict of the ballot boxes.

"No one can question the will of the people who have spoken. Adama Barrow is President elect, period", Marcel de Souza said. The process can be very fast because Ecowas heads of State and government, who will decide on a military option to flush Jammeh, are due to meet on Saturday in Nigeria. Then, they would have done an appraisal of Jammeh's response to their quest for him to leave.
