Sierra Leone: Chinese Ambassador To Sierra Leone Develops Interest To Boost Tourism Industry

Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Ambassador Wu Peng, has expressed an interest in helping to develop the country’s tourism industry.

He spoke at a scholarship awards ceremony which took place on 17th January, and said that Sierra Leone has beautiful beaches with clean and bright sands. There are nice monument areas. And, the people are lovely and hospitable who are always willing and ready to accommodate others.

The Ambassador is originally from Sanya City in the Hainan Province, which is one of the largest and most popular tourist destinations in China.
Ambassador Peng disclosed, with his knowledge and experience on the area of tourism in China, he believes he can do something to help develop tourism in Sierra Leone. Tourism, he said, can help transform the country’s economy and create employment for young people.

“I love my job. I love Sierra Leone and I believe I will contribute immensely towards the development of Sierra Leone,” he said.
He explained that the young people are the future of Sierra Leone, which is why he intends to contribute to developing the tourism sector.
According to a report published by the Chinese Tourism Ministry for the year 2015, the tourism sector contributed 10% towards the national budget and created thousands of jobs.
