Breaking News: AMCON Takes Over Aero Contractors

The Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) has dissolved the board of Aero Contractors and appointed a manager over the affairs of the airline, The Cable reports. In a statement release on  Friday, AMCON said the takeover was in furtherance of its statutory responsibility of acquiring Eligible Bank Assets and putting them to economic use in a profitable manner. AMCON is both the majority shareholder and creditor of Aero.

Breaking! Tinubu & AIT Agree To Settle Out Of Court, SEE Why Tinubu Agreed

APC National leader, Bola Tinubu has agreed to accept an unreserved apology from the Chairman of DAAR Communication PLC, Chief Raymond Dokepsi as settlement for the libellous documentary “Lion of Burdillion” aired on Africa Independent Television, AIT against him.

Both Tinubu and Dokpesi’s lawyers this morning presented the terms of settlement reached on 29 January, 2016 before the trial court Justice Iyabo Akinkugbe. The terms of agreement include among other things, a retraction of the broadcast by AIT, an apology by AIT, which should be aired daily for a quarter.The trial court subsequently adopted the terms of settlement.

BVN Exposes 23,306 ‘Ghost Workers’ On Fed Govt Payroll

The Bank Verification Number Exercise has exposed no fewer than 23,306 ghost workers within the Federal Government’s payroll. The Federal Ministry of Finance made the discovery with the adoption of the BVN for salary payment recently.

Details of about 312,000 civil servants have so far been checked & 23, 306 of them had irregularities with their data within the ministry and the one in the bank.

According to The Nation, the Federal government has started deleting the indicted civil servants from its payroll. Some of those affected have tendered their resignation letters to pre-empt dismissal from service and prosecution. A source from the Ministry who spoke on the development said

26-Year-Old Nigerian Emerges The Youngest PHD Law Graduate Of The Centre Of Human Rights, University Of Pretoria

The Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria on February 3, 2016, introduced its youngest doctorate graduate, Dr. Romola Adeola. According to the Institute, at just 26 years of age, Romola has set a record in being the youngest person to obtain a Doctor of Laws degree (LLD) in the 30-year history of the Centre for Human Rights.
Furthermore, she is only the second youngest person to achieve this in the Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria since its establishment 107 years ago. She distinguished herself by completing the LLD in under 3 years.

This record is in keeping with a pattern of excellence which Romola has maintained since her undergraduate years at Lagos State University (LASU) where she was awarded the Taslim Olawale Elias Prize for the Best Student in International Law.

FG Pleads With Major Oil Companies In Nigeria As They Plan Mass Sack Following Dwindling Oil Price

Major oil companies in Nigeria have said they are planning a mass sack following the dwindling price of oil in the International market. At a meeting between the Minister of Labor and Productivity, Chris Ngige and the managements of International Oil Companies (IOCs) in Nigeria comprising of Agip, Mobil producing, Chevron Addax and Total, the Head of Human Resources and Medical, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Ihuoma Onyearugheto, said the plan to lay off some workers in the sector is as a result of the current challenges facing the industry.
