Airtel Sierra Leone Has New Managing Director

In a short statement on Monday, 7th December, the company announced that its “Managing Director, Sudipto Chowdhury has been retained overseas for private and personal reasons until further notice”.
The company said an interim Managing Director, Dapo Olasope, had been redeployed from its Africa Regional Office to serve as acting MD until the situation is determined.
Airtel is the largest telephone company in Sierra Leone by virtue of its subscriber base but faces stiff competition from the Lebanese-owned Africell.
Although the Airtel management did not give any definitive explanation for recalling Mr. Chowdhury, last week local media reported alleged mal-administration within the management of the telephone company.
