President Ernest Bai
Koroma on Friday 4 December 2015, lauded the efforts of the Sierra Leone Chamber
of Commerce and Industry for its initiative in not just organizing the annual
trade fair and exhibition at the Siaka Stevens Stadium, but also in reviving
trade, commercial and economic activities in the country.
He assured them of
government’s continuous support, and stressed that “After Ebola our emphasis
will be on the economy. And we have to start somewhere.” He described the
venture as a very good start in kick-starting economic activities after the
outbreak.
The president
registered his satisfaction following an inspection tour of booths and stores
of corporate institutions as well as the booth mounted by the opposition Sierra
Leone Peoples Party’s Young Generation, which many onlookers and pundits have
referred to as a clear manifestation of political tolerance.
President Koroma was led
on the conducted tour by the Chairperson of the Chamber of Commerce, Mrs.
Gladys Strasser-King and Dr Julius Spencer of Premier Media.
The president also described the timing of the exhibition and
trade fair as appropriate and encouraged the organizers to find a permanent
location where an infrastructure can be erected for future trade fairs and
exhibition
