Sierra Leone Steps Up Security Measures at Lungi Airport

Madam Betty, Public Relations Manager (PRM) at the Sierra Leone Airport Authority(SLAA) has told the Sierra Leone News Agency (SLENA) in an interview that the both the West Minster Security Aviation and the OSD wing of the Sierra Leone Police have now been jointly deployed at all the air and land sides of the Airport.

Madam Betty said this is in addition to the 2 Land routine Patrol Teams now being conducted on the air side of the Perimeter Fence to ensure effective monitoring of the deployed security personnel.

The Public Relations Manager spoke of the additional Security measures that have been introduced into the Airport Security Operations. She said there is now an increased deployment of OSD personnel with security patrols around the Perimeter Fence and Observation Posts. There is also a 24 hour security presence with static guards around the perimeter of the airport while inferred cameras have already been installed to enhance monitoring and surveillance at both the Perimeter Fence and Navigational Installations.

Meanwhile, the PRM also said that the Sierra Leone Police, the West Minster Security Aviation, the Office of National Security, the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority and the Management of the Sierra Leone Airport Authority are now monitoring on a regular basis to evaluate the screening of passengers and security related issues at the Airport.
