Sierra Leone News: NCD Meets Top Police Management

In a bid to support the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in maintaining peace and stability in the country, the National Commission for Democracy (NCD) has presented a Concept Note that will promote Civic Conscious Policing to the Executive Management Board (EMB) of the Sierra Leone Police on Thursday, 9th September, 2016, at the Conference room of the Sierra Leone Police Headquarters at George Street in Freetown.

In his statement to the Executive Management Board of the Sierra Leone Police, the Chairman of NCD, Dr. Abubakarr H. Kargbo, revealed that his Commission is responsible to create an enlightened, peaceful, democratic and just society in which citizens are empowered to enjoy their rights as citizens and discharge their responsibilities with the attitude desirable for national unity and development. 


Dr. Kargbo revealed that the content of the Concept Note of his Commission that is presented to the Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police is in line with the aim of the SLP that is geared towards raising standards noting that the concept note which will be translated into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will create partnership with the SLP that is aimed at providing civic education training to trainees at the Police Academy and other officers as may be deemed necessary. He stressed that the quest for the partnership is based on his Commission’s flagship program that is aimed at bringing Civic Education into the curriculum of schools and colleges where youths will be taught their civic responsibilities to the State.
