Chairman of the Public Service
Commission (PSC) Dr. Max Ahmadu Sesay and staff yesterday (Monday October 24,
2016) presented the Commission’s Annual Report for 2015 and its five-year
Strategic Plan – 2016-2020 to President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma at State House in
Freetown.
According to Dr. Sesay, the two
documents are significant because the 2015 Annual Report marks the third and
final year of the first ever Strategic Plan developed in the history of PSC,
spanning from 2012 to 2015.
Receiving the documents,
President Koroma thanked the Commission for submitting its 2015 Annual Report
as well as the Strategic Plan which he described as timely. He commended the
Commission for its transformative strides over the years, assuring that the
austerity measures would not impede the activities of the Commission.
“Activities of the Commission will not be strangled because of austerity
measures,” he emphasized.
Addressing concerns raised by
the Commission regarding office building and continuation of the recruitment
process, the president assured of government’s continued support to the PSC to
have an office building and a continuation of the recruitment process. He
thanked the Commission for its good work and urged its members to continue in
that direction.
Chairman of the PSC thanked
President Koroma for his astute leadership and admirable stewardship of the
nation, stressing that the Commission has no regret of having the president as
‘Honourable Minister of the Public Service’. As part of the presentation
ceremony, Dr Sesay raised two issues (modern multi-purpose complex for PSC and
the continuation of the recruitment process) for the attention of the
president.
