Sierra Leone News: Government should review operation of alcohol factories – AVMSL Director

The Director of the Anti- Violence Movement in Sierra Leone, Bernard Conteh has called on the government of Sierra Leone to urgently review the operations of factories manufacturing alcohol in the country.
This, according to him, is to ensure the ratification of an alcohol policy as it will help in combating violence in the various communities in the country.

While he was addressing Members of Blood (MOB) representatives at the Anti-Violence office at Berwick Street, Mr. Conteh said that the recent state of youth violence among cliques is a major cause for concern for post ebola recovery in the country.
Citing recent violence activities in mainly Bo and Freetown, noted that such acts of violence have the tendency of undermining the security of the state and the future of the youths.
He added that the nefarious acts perpetrated by clique groups of young people have the potential to scare away investors and tourists from the country. He stated that the country has just emerged from a deadly fight against ebola and therefore need to focus on Post Ebola Recovery activities in order to rebrand the country’s image, attract investors and revamp the country’s economy.
“As an organisation, we remain supportive to the Sierra Leone Police in order to enforce security measures that are in line with the principles of professionalism and human rights to maintain peace and tranquillity,”he maintained.
