Season 9
winner of the MTN Project Fame has been announced, and at the closing ceremony yesterday in Lagos, the organisation invited YBNL’s Adekunle Gold to headline
the occasion.
This same
singer they twice rejected years ago.
“7 and 8 years ago, I auditioned for MTN project Fame. I nor
enter,” the ‘Shade’ singer tweeted today. “Yesterday, I was a guest
performer on the show.”
Adekunle
Gold has on of the most inspiring journeys.
In 2013, he
introduced himself on Facebook as a struggling sculptor and aspiring
graphic artist with big dreams.
“Ceramist, sculptor, brand developer, graphic artist, SINGER,”
he said. “You’d agree that I’m a ‘man of the arts’. Save this picture.
You’ll join me in saying my success story soonest.”

got distracted.
At the 2015
edition of the Headies Awards, the top YBNL act won the award for Best Alternative
Song, beating the likes of Asa and Bez. Before then, at the 2015
AFRIMA awards, he won the Revelation of the
year award.
Now, Gold
graces top platforms, include prestigious ones he was previously denied as a
dreamer.
“There’s a God in heaven and he love me,” he says.
