The Deputy Regional Commander of the National
Fire Force in the Southern Region, Alimamy Conteh, has strongly warned people
against keeping fuel at home amidst the increase in the price of fuel in the
market.
He cited that it has come to their knowledge that some people are buying fuel in large quantities and keeping it in their respective houses to sell it at black market prices.
Conteh said that keeping fuel at home is dangerous and advises people to desist from it in order to avoid fire accidents. He notes that his officers are actively moving around to sensitize the people against fire accidents.
“We are sensitizing people because we have only one fire engine. We do not want to have an instance where a lot of fire incidents are reported at the same time and we cannot reach out to all the areas to put out the fire.” Conteh cautioned.
“We are also going to other districts like Moyamba to sensitize people about the danger of cooking with coal pots close to their houses,” Conteh said
