Sierra Leone President Receives Former Nigeria Vice President, Nnamadi Sambo In Freetown

Sierra Leone President, Ernest Bai Koroma yesterday November 21, 2016, received the former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammed Namadi Sambo at State House in Freetown.
Accompanied by Sierra Leone High Commissioner to Nigeria, Haja Afsatu O.E.S. Kabba, Mr Sambo, who is an architect, is in the country to inform government about plans by MANYATTA - Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) to support efforts to address 60% of the economic challenges facing the country.
MANYATTA - AVIC - INTL provides advisory services to African countries to attain economic advancement through interdependence and international cooperation within the context of national development plans and achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Welcoming the former Vice President, President Koroma reiterated the need to further strengthened cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).He described the visit as timely and acknowledged that Mr Sambo is better positioned to advice on such issues, pointing out that all the sectors earmarked are in sync with the President’s Recovery Priorities.  

The president explained that the country still has many untapped hydro-electric potentials, and that government was at an advanced stage of discussion with partners for the second phase of the Bumbuna hydro project.  He therefore encouraged Mr Namadi Sambo to also meet and discuss with other sectors, noting that Sierra Leone being a coastal country, marine transportation will also offer multiple investment opportunities to expedite the national development process.
The former VP of Nigeria informed that MANYATTA - AVIC - INTL provides services on  international economic relations, energy, water resources, national planning and implementation, infrastructure, irrigation and agriculture, transport and aviation, architecture, urban and regional planning.
Mr Sambo added that private sector participation and privatization, utility management and operational efficiency, human capacity development and institutional development all form part of MANYATTA-AVIC – INTL engagements. He expressed strong desire to partner with government in the areas of water, energy, infrastructure, and agriculture.
