As the contest to succeed His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest
Bai Koroma draws near, more names keep surfacing for the emblem carrier
position of the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) for the 2018 multi-level
elections several names include but not limited to: Dr. Joseph Sam Sesay,
Special Adviser to President Koroma; Dr. Abubakarr Sidic Alpha Khan, Special
Adviser to President Koroma; Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, Attorney General and
Minister of Justice; HE Alimamy Petito Koroma, Ambassador to the People’s
Republic of China; John Bornor Sisay, CEO, Sierra Rutile; Alhaji Minkailu
Mansaray, Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources; Lawyer Kalokoh, a lawyer
from USA; Haja Dr. Zainab Hawa Bangura, currently working at the UN.
One of
the latest additions to swell the number of persons interested in the said
position is Dr. Joseph Sam Sesay.
Dr. Sam
Sesay was the former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security and he
is currently serving as Special Adviser to His Excellency the President Dr.
Ernest Bai Koroma.
Ernest
Dura Koroma, special political assistant to Dr. Sam Sesay, explained that Dr.
Joseph Sam Sesay has always been true member of the APC.
“He join the All Peoples Congress (APC) back in 1976 at 39 Siaka
Stevens street as part of the National Youth League (NYL) when Edward Tamba
Kamara (commonly called ETK) was the Secretary General and the NYL was under
the tutilage/leadership of the current speaker of Parliament Hon. SBB Dumbuya,
Karankay, Romeo Doherty, Late John Bornor Sesay Patrick Ojong, Ambassador
Alhaji MS Kargbo and many more were astute members at that period.”
According
to a senior party official who preferred remained anonymity disclosed to our
realiable source that Dr. Joseph Sam Sesay is the fittest amongst all to
succeed President Koroma, should the APC want to emerge victorious come 2018.
Besides,
he is currently one of the oldest members of the party, he added. Ernest Dura
continued to say the APC should be in the hands of true APC members and not new
comers who are only in the party to seek greener pastures.
The
Secretary General of the party, Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh has said it on
many media engagements that, the person who will succeed president Koroma will
be a true and born APC member and not someone who just joined the party.
