Aminata
Adialin Bangura, the reigning Miss Sierra Leone, will leave Freetown tomorrow Friday,
25th November for
Maryland USA to take part in the 2016 Miss World Pageant scheduled for 18th December. Aminata, who emerged as the
winner of Miss Sierra Leone 2016 in May this year has been going through a
period of intense grooming to prepare her for what promises to be the
competition of her life.
“I am
very excited to be going to Miss World and intend to fly the Sierra Leonean
flag with great pride”, Aminata says, stressing that she hopes to do the nation
proud.
“Aminata will be a worthy ambassador for Sierra Leone and we
expect her to attract a lot of positive attention to the country”, says Dr.
Adonis Aboud, Chairman of Miss Sierra Leone Ltd.
Getting Aminata to Miss World has not been an easy task for the
Board of Miss Sierra Leone Ltd, all the members of which are giving voluntary
service without any consideration of financial benefit.
According to Dr. Aboud, members have even made personal
financial contributions and are giving a lot of their time and energy to ensure
Sierra Leone is well represented at Miss World.
“We are grateful to the Minister of Tourism and Culture, the
National Tourist Board, IPC Travels, SN Brussels, Sierra Rutile and Adnan
Supermarket who have so far provided support to enable us get our Queen to Miss
World, and we look forward to more support from other well-meaning Sierra
Leoneans and companies,” he says.
In order to ensure that Miss Sierra Leone is well prepared for
the Miss World pageant, the board of Miss Sierra Leone Limited has secured the
services of Mrs. Aleece Cooper to provide grooming for Aminata. Mrs. Cooper has
significant experience in pageantry, having worked with Miss South Africa who
went on to be the first runner up for Miss World in 2007.
