Sierra Leone News: Ahead of 2018 elections…NPDP joins the race
The National Progressive Democratic Party will today become the thirteen political partyto join the race to govern the citizenry of Sierra Leone.
At the Political Party Registration Commission (PPRC), the National Progressive Democratic party under the interim leadership of Alimamy Sillah would be presented with their provisional registration certificate.
This was disclosed yesterday at the normal briefing of the Political Party Registration Commission (PPRC) headquarters at Tower Hill in which its Chairman, Justice M.E Tolla-Thompson outlined their mandate among which is to promote political pluralism and spirit of constitutionalism among political parties.
Justice Tolla-Thompson, while speaking on his organizational values, stressed that the PPRC will continue to be impartial while dealing with political parties and their supporters, coupled with tolerance, transparency, integrity and efficiency.
Briefing media practitioners, the acting Registrar, Mrs Zainab Umu Moseray, outlined activities planned for the pending bye-elections in Freetown and Kailahun and disclosed that “the commission will be engaged in a non-violence campaign during the cooling off day in Constituency 107 and Ward 329.”
Furthermore, she revealed that the Commission was able to meditate between the two former executive members and the 2012 flagbearer of the Revolutionary United Front Party (RUFP). Both fractions, she went on, decided to work together in the interest of the party.
Also, before the PPRC for mediation is an issue between executive members of the Peace and Liberation Party (PLP). The Chairman and Leader, Mohamed K. Mansaray had informed the commission of the party’s decision to relieve the Interim Secretary General, David Gbla of his duties.
On the other hand, the latter had also lodged a formal complaint against Mohamed K. Mansaray and has requested the PPRC to intervene.
