The
Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has increased monthly
pension payment by 20 percent effective this January 2016.
A
statement issued by Ms Evangeline Amegashie, SSNIT Corporate Affairs Manager
stated that the latest increment means the minimum wage for current pensioners
will increase to GHC296.89 from GHC230.00.
The
statement added that "all fresh pensioners from January will receive a new
monthly pension of GHC276.00".
