Sierra Leone News: Brewery Will Purchase 8,000 Bags of Sorghum This Year- Supply Chain Manager

As part of their commitment to promoting the local content policy and as a way of improving the lives of farmers, Sierra Leone Brewery Limited (SLBL) will this year purchase a total of 8,000 (eight thousand) bags of Sorghum, according to the Company’s Supply Chain Manager, John Richardson.

It could be recalled that SLBL created the sole market for sorghum produced by local farmers since 2005 which attracted hundreds of farmers to go into the business as a way of earning more revenue as Brewery is investing in that market instead of importing the raw materials for their products.

According to him, between 2013 and 2015 the company purchased an aggregate total of 1,595,078 metric tons of sorghum amounting to Le3,420,799,207 (three billion, four hundred and twenty million seven hundred and ninety-nine thousand, two hundred and seven Leones) and during the ebola period the company purchased a total of 787.75 metric tons of sorghum, amounting to Le1,674,150,526 (one billion, six hundred and seventy-four million, one hundred and fifty thousand five hundred and twenty-six Leones.
