OUR ASSOCIATIONS ATTENTION HAS BEEN DRAWN TO A SOCIAL MEDIA POST BY A CERTAIN JARA-KAWUSU CONTEH OF THE STATE HOUSE COMMUNICATIONS UNIT, ALTHOUGH WE CAN NOT INDEPENDENTLY CONFIRM ITS AUTHENTICITY, PROPAGATING HOW THEY (THE RULING PARTY) SHALL MANIPULATE US INTO SUSPENDING THE SALE OF EMMERSON BOCKARIE’S RECENTLY RELEASED ALBUM. WE WISH TO INFORM THE PUBLIC AND ALSO MAKE OUR ASSOCIATIONS POSITION CLEAR ON THE SAID MATTER AND ANY OTHER THAT WILL EMANATE AFTER THIS NOTICE.

1: WE ARE AN ASSOCIATION WHOSE FIRM BELIEFS ARE GROUNDED ON THE FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AND OPINION WITHOUT FARE OR FAVOUR

2: WE BELIEVE THAT MUSIC IS AN ART AND THEREFORE WILL ASSIST TO PROMOTE ANY SIERRA LEONE WHO CHOOSES ART EITHER AS A CAREER OR PLEASURE.

3: OUR ASSOCIATION COMPLETELY DISSOCIATES ITSELF FROM ANY POLITICAL PARTY OR GROUP WHOSE BASIC PRINCIPLES ARE IN CONFLICT WITH OURS.

WE WILL THEREFORE WANT TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO INFORM THE PUBLIC THAT AS BUSINESS MEN AND WOMEN, WE WILL SUPPORT, PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE ANY SIERRA LEONEAN WHO MAY WISH TO CHOOSE ART (MUSIC) INORDER TO HELP DEVELOP OUR BELOVED COUNTRY ON A NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STAGE.

It has come to the attention of the leadership and the general membership of the Cassette Sellers Association (SL) about a fake press release making the rounds on social media, particularly Whatsapp and Facebook, with regards the marketing and distribution of Emerson’s album.

The president of CSA, Abu Bakarr Kamara aka Didi Abu and the entire membership are in full support of His Excellency Dr Ernest Bai Koroma and the APC led government for the tremendous development that we are currently seeing.

The CSA membership will everlastingly remain proud of His Excellency Ernest Bai Koroma for so many reasons. For instance, His Excellency signed a certificate of urgency that led to the enactment of the 2011 long awaited copyright act by the House of Parliament. We lobbied the previous SLPP government for a copyright law but we were not even given the attention to express our burning desire for such a piece of legislation.

Finally, we want to warn that the fake and unpatriotic author of that so-called press release find better things to do or join Sierra Leone’s best president ever – Dr Ernest Bai Koroma in transforming our beloved mama Salone to become a great and mighty nation.
